Let the Clay Do It's Thing 1
In this dish I let the clay do it's own thing round the edge. One side is dipped in a white crackle glaze and the other in a copper containing glaze which is turquoise in an oxidising atmosphere, i.e. normal air, and gives metallic copper in a reducing atmosphere. This is achieved by placing the red hot pot in a dustbin of sawdust which catches light and burns off the oxygen. |
